Don’t Compromise!

Compromise is what we do when we do something out of character for approval a group. In society we have been taught that we must compromise in order for to get through some things. Yes, compromise is necessary when it comes to conversation and relationships (platonic and romantic). But compromise is not necessary when we compromise ourselves and act in a manner that put other people in a poor position. One of our main slogans at Soulside Skincare is “Don’t Compromise”. That is not only for our customer but for us as well

When we say “Don’t Compromise” we are telling you guys, our family, not to shop with companies that have unethical behavior. To not settle for products that are lower value because they are “convenient”. It is for you to not compromise and buy from a brand that may not be cruelty free or natural. It also means for you to buy for a company that genuinely cares about them and does not just see you as a piggy bank they can exploit. We pride ourselves on being a company that cares about our customers because there are not many of us left. We understand that there is no Soulside Skincare family without you guys and we are genuinely grateful.

“Don’t Compromise” means something different to us. We use it as a way to remind us of our values. It is for us to not compromise ourselves as people and to become just another company that doesn’t give a damn about their customers. They are just milking them. We want to be human first, business second. We have all heard the saying “its business not personal.” But we disagree with that statement wholeheartedly. How could it not be personal if we are all humans first. We will always make our decision for humans first. We want to provide a safe space for you guys. Being online we face challenges but hopefully provide you with an intimate and personal experience to the best of our capability. With that said if you do not know them already our values are humanity, quality, self-love, environmentally conscious, and fight against hate. It is important that you know them as well so that you can hold us accountable if we are falling behind or lacking in an area. We want to be held accountable if we are not keeping our promise not only by ourselves but by our family. It wouldn’t be much of a family if we did not give up that power.

If you would like to know more about what our values entail, please check out our values page or feel free to direct message us on Instagram, message our chat box, or email us as we are always available for a chat. As always stay blessed.

The Balancing Act

With the world at it’s current state and the after effects of quarantine beginning to unravel, we as a society have an obligation to assist others. During the beginning of quarantine, we saw a huge influx of people seeking answers to questions that they may not have had before. The realization of a general lack of self-care or not knowing how to properly care for yourself can be daunting. However, the need to help others comes from within and that burning desire to leave an impact on the world is what we need in order to help each other during these times.

Self-care has become a common term used amongst population as more and more information on how to properly care for yourself continue to flood the internet and social media world. This push for self-improvement might just be what society needs in order to rebuild our own mental strength but may also bring unnecessary stress if not careful. The pressures of the world can be enough to leave people feeling inferior or not worthy of giving themselves the love in which they need to help others but the truth is that you are more than deserving.

If we widen the microscope and look at this idea from a slightly more esoteric perspective than it is easier to understand that as humans, we are all equal and are deserving simply because we exist. You are no different than the person next to you yet somehow you might have convinced yourself that you deserve less. I am hear to tell you that that is not true and most of your journey towards true self-improvement is saying it to yourself that you are deserving until you longer doubt it. The balancing act of helping yourself and others is to put your own growth first and help others in your improved state. A healing soul sharing advice and life experience to another healing soul can only help it grow, however with that being said a wounded spirit can hinder the spirit of person trying to evolve and improve.

I ask you to challenge yourself going forward as we reach the halfway point of 2020 and to seek more personal knowledge. Discomfort is the symptom right before change and the best way to change is through new experiences and objectives. Set a few new goals for yourself, both mental and physical. Continue to learn more about yourself and share your experiences with friends in order to enrich their lives as well. The constant need to discourage ourselves as motivation is a dated practice and setting new healthier objectives can be more beneficial to one’s vibration. Remember the idea that it is a push and pull effect and the healthier your spirit, the healthier the energy.

Fight Against Hate

An illness is a disease or period of sickness affecting the body or mind. If you look up the most common illnesses you will probably see things like headaches, stomach aches, colds, and allergies but nowhere really talks about the worst common illness, hate. Hate spreads just like other illnesses and affects the mind even worst. Hate is what makes it scary for a black person to be stopped by the police for any reason. Hate is what makes Arab people sitting in an airport minding their own business uncomfortable. Hate is what makes it so hard for members of the LGBTQ+ community come out and tell people. No one is born with this illness, it is taught. which is why we must fight to teach a new. A way to treat people with compassion.

American author Gail Sheehy once said “If we don’t change, we don’t grow. If we don’t grow, we aren’t really living.” Change will never come in comfort. As a society we have to push each other out of our comfort zones. We have to help others see things with an open mind. We also have to be ready to see things with an open mind. All too often we get frustrated when people don’t see our way. Then we give up on explaining our side or we get hostile while explaining it. We cannot expect change to come this way. Just like we learn our partners love languages, we must learn how to communicate with certain individuals if we ever want to get through to them. You may see it as a waste of time or energy. That you cannot change the world by changing this one person’s opinion but that is where you wrong. If we all do our part that one person can change the mind of someone close to them, then that person changes someone else’s mind and the cycle starts. It all comes from those extra steps. Not only must we have those uncomfortable conversations with others but we must take ourselves out of our bubbles to start those conversations.

This fight against hate is not an easy battle but it is a necessary one. We must not fight to make hate hidden, we must fight to rid hatred from people’s heart and minds. You are probably thinking what can I do? First, you can try to help someone around you, with a viewpoint based from hatred, see the other side of things. Do not belittle them, educate them on the situation. Second, get out in public with groups. Whether it is attending a protest or going to a parade, there is strength in numbers. Third, you can stand up when you see this hate or discrimination happening, even if it is not to you. Help your fellow neighbor and let them know that they aren’t alone in this fight and show the other side that we will no longer fold to them. Again, we know This fight is not easy but never doubt what committed group of citizens can do. They can surely change the world.

Symptom of the Unknown: Laziness

As the paradigm of life begins to shift, I think there will be people approaching a new life journey of mastering their mind. One of the most difficult life challenges is creating a better self-image of yourself. We as a society have evolved in scientific and medical creations but have lost sight of the power of self-improvement. Many people go about their days burdened with unpursued dreams, negative self-talk, and expectations that others including parents may have placed over their shoulders. A yearn for change will bring up many personal questions but one most important of all, the difference between being lazy and uninspired in one’s life.

No pressure placed by anyone can be greater than the pressure placed on ourselves but with that being said what stops us from moving? When I say moving, I mean more so in the pursuit of our passions and everything we aspire to be. Often times we are quick to base it off of one vague word known as laziness to blanket over the myriad of emotions that stops people from chasing their dreams however the new question is where does it come from? What new age mental coaches have begun to ask is how to move people out of the fear state and into the abundant mindset. It has been determined that there is now a distinct correlation between fear and laziness, however with a few small changes we can begin to create a new reality for ourselves and the power and confidence to change our lives.

Laziness is the unwillingness to pursue goals, tasks, or new projects in terms of the current “comfort” in which our mental state currently resides in. Fear often times manifests itself unwanted energy and thought processes that hinder us from doing what it is that we love. Fear of failure, fear of unreached expectations, and fear of success are among the most common. Laziness is when you convince yourself that the fear of starting and never achieving is less valuable than ever igniting that dream in the first place. The self-dismantlement of one’s own spirit by negative self-talk to remind us of the false notion that our dream is unattainable. From the never wanting to hear the detrimental “I told you so” line to the heartbreak of never reaching your desired end goal can be discouraging.

There is however an end to all the mental madness. By priming ourselves with self-betterment tools and habits we can take the driver’s seat to changing our lives in whichever way we may choose to do so. Inspiration starts with the willingness to work on one’s self. It is understanding the idea that the more we begin to look and heal from within the more mental clarity and guidance we will have to bring us to all of our manifestations. We can give ourselves the permission to heal from the plagues of our past and look towards a new life by changing our perspective of how we view ourselves. Begin by telling yourself that you deserve it all and that you are absolutely worthy. Long are the days of the old you and welcome your hidden potential. Let go of those in the past who hurt you and focus simply on what you can do now to push you towards your dreams. Ask yourself questions such as “what do I like?” or “what would the better version of me look like?” Open ended questions about yourself will open new doors to new life creations. Remember the healthier and positive the questions you ask yourself are, the more abundant the answers will be.

Bar Soap: Benefits and Myths

Benefits:

Good for the Environment

Unlike liquid body washes that use excess amounts of plastic for their packaging, bar soaps eliminate the need for excess environmental waste products. As a company making an effort to provide sustainable options, our bar soap packaging is made from recycled materials as a way to make sure that we are cutting down on as much waste as possible.

Healthier on skin

Our body bars are made out of organic ingredients and essential oils that eliminate the harsh effects of non-natural body washes. While a lot of store brand body washes consist mostly of water and often times harsh chemicals our bars provide natural cleaning agents with powerful moisturizing properties that improve overall skin health and maintenance.

Reduced body odor

Essential oils are not only great for cleaning and moisturizing the skin but for body odor as well. Essential oils are naturally potent anti-odor agents due to their ability to stay on skin for an extended period of time. Essential oils such as lavender can even be found in perfumes for its longevity. As a result, our bar soaps provide a natural allure that last throughout the day to make sure you are clean and smell the best you possibly can.

No Artificial Preservatives

Artificial preservatives have had a long reputation for contributing to signs of unhealthy skin. Both the natural and essential oils in our bar soaps provided a lengthy shelf life and does not lose its effective cleaning traits.

Myths:

Bar soaps cannot be used on the face

Contrary to popular belief you can absolutely use bar soaps on skin. Often times traditional bar soaps were seen as being to harsh on the face but its more due to its unnatural ingredients. With that being said however we do recommend using a separate bar of soap exclusively on your face.

Bar soaps are unsanitary

Arguably one of the biggest misconceptions is that bar soaps are not sanitary. While there are small amounts of bacteria on bar soaps there are also traces of bacteria on your skin. The natural antimicrobial benefits of our soap keep bacteria to a minimum both on the surface of the bar and your skin itself. Rinse your bar for a few seconds before lathering and store the bar in a dry place until the next use.

Natural soaps do not clean

Natural antimicrobial ingredients are among the strongest cleaning agents in mother nature. They have the ability to deeply clean and sanitize the body and accommodate all skin types. Those with sensitive skin who are a bit more prone to skin irritation may find that natural soap is the way to go.
